Pictures from Vintage Computer Fair 2010

These are my pictures from the Vintage Computer Fair (VCF) 2010 at Bletchley Park, UK.

2010 being the 25th year after the introduction of the original Amiga, the A1000, several of this summer's events would be celebrations of this remarkable anniversary.

But at the same time, the Amiga community were eagerly awaiting the advent of not one, but two new Amiga models, both of them more powerful than the previous AmigaOnes and Sams, and both capable of running AmigaOS 4.x: The Sam460ex from ACube and the AmigaOne X1000 from the newcomer A-Eon.

Both of these machines would be presented live for the first time at this event. And as I would unfortunately not be able to attend any of the events planned to take place at the actual anniversary date in July, I decided to go to the UK for the VCF event.

A minor complication turned out to be that we had been invited to a good friend's 50th birthday on the Saturday of the VCF weekend, so the trip had to be reduced to a one-day excursion; an early morning plane from Copenhagen to Heathrow, a rental car for driving the 90 km up to Bletchley Park near Milton Keynes, and back home in the opposite order in the evening.

But although it was a very long day, and my wife and I were both pretty tired by the time we got home at close to midnight, getting a chance to chat with old acquaintances and meet new ones, and seeing the new machines in the "flesh" was definitely worth the trip.

A big thank you to the organizers and attendees of this event. Let's hope the summer and the rest of 2010 continues to bring the Amiga community closer to fulfilling our dreams for our beloved platform.
